Bite Guards

Mouth guards are coverings worn over teeth, and often used to protect teeth from injury during physical activity and sports, and from tooth-on-tooth contact (grinding).

What Are Bite Guards?

Bite guards are one of the many preventive dental care options we offer. At Scott 72 Dental Centre, we believe that it's better to prevent injuries and damage, than it is to treat it after it already exists.

Bite guards are dental appliances that are custome made just for you, based on impressions (molds) that we take of your teeth. Bite guards are used to prevent injury during sports, or during the night for patients who suffer from bruxism (teeth grinding) and jaw clenching.

Night Mouth Guards

If you suffer from bruxism or teeth grinding problems, night mouth guards are the easiest solution for it. Bruxism is the proper term given to teeth grinding. It is that annoying practice of people to make clenching sounds with their teeth as they sleep, either in the daytime or in the night.

A mouth guard worn at night will help prevent clenching and grinding, and will also protect the teeth and jaws from damage when grinding and clenching do occur.

Sports Mouth Guards

Wearing a protective mouth guard while playing sports can go a long way in preventing injuries to the teeth, jaw, and overall facial structure. Mouth guards can even help prevent concussions in some cases.

While there are one-size-fits-all mouth guards available in most sporting goods stores, custom-made mouth guards provide the best first and protection, because they're made to exactly fit your unique teeth and mouth.
