Why Less Is More When Whitening Your Teeth

Why Less Is More When Whitening Your Teeth

Teeth whitening is a great way to improve the appearance of your smile, as it makes a significant difference for relatively little effort. However, when whitening your teeth, remember that less is more!

For starters, when someone over-whitens their teeth, the result can be quite jarring. Brilliant, blindingly white teeth are not attractive, and can actually look quite weird in person.

Unless you have a career in television, or perhaps modelling, it’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to whitening, because over-doing it can have the opposite of the intended effect: it could make your smile less attractive.

In addition, over-whitening your teeth can lead to dental health problems. It can soften your enamel, making your teeth feel extra sensitive, and in extreme cases, it may even cause your teeth to become a strange, blue-grey colour.

That being said, teeth whitening is very safe, and it takes a lot to over-whiten your teeth to the extent that you wind up with oral health problems.

All the same, it’s important to exercise caution. If you’re unsure about how frequently you should whiten your teeth, or when they’re white enough, visit your Delta dentist at Scott 72 Dental Centre for a consultation!
